L.A. Noire is meant for a mature audience who likes their stories to build up steam, which builds up to a massive endgame scene. The game stimulates the mind asking questions and making the gamer make a judgement whether it is right or wrong. If the judgement is wrong they loose what is called intuition points which are points gained from making the right decision and getting the correct information.
The game lets the audience interact within the game by the way it allows your character. Cole Phelps, to rotate clues/objects to find flaws which then is taken down in your ‘notebook’  that opens new questions for the interrogation sections. The audience also gains ‘Institution Points’ if they get something correct in the game but loose it if they make a mistake, like interrogate an innocent person rather than the real culprit.
